Led Primary Series Ashtanga Yoga

Led Primary Series Ashtanga Yoga

Fridays from 7:30 - 9:00 AM at North Grounds Recreation Center, MP3

Led Full Primary series is a traditional sanskrit counted vinyasa class (ekam, dve, trini….) suitable for those with an existing ashtanga yoga practice. Students in this class aim to  moved and breathe with the count as one. Students generally do not move beyond their abilities but stop where they are unable to complete a posture and do closing (finishing) postures in the back of the room.

Mysore is our most accessible class style, open to everyone and suitable for all body types and levels of experience.  There you will receive one-on-one attention in a group setting as students work through a set series of postures, and learn a practice tailored to your body. Mysore is most effective as a regular practice (3-6x/week) allowing patterns in the body and mind to be worked with the help of a teacher and community.

Mondays at North Grounds Recreation Center, MP3 | Tuesdays at Aquatic Fitness Center, MP1

Students are led through part of the primary series of Ashtanga yoga in a group class. Focus on breathing, explanation of the poses with modifications and gazing point are all introduced. Expect to build up a sweat, while developing strength, flexibility, and mindfulness.

Wear non-restricting, comfortable clothing (doesn't have to be gym-wear). Bring a yoga mat if you have one, and a towel to go underneath.
