9:30-11:30 AM: Inversions & the Art of Balance

  • Location: North Grounds Recreation Center (NGRC), Room MP3
  • Tickets : $35 students | $40 non-students (registration will open Aug. 22)

Turning yourself upside down challenges the body’s sense of spatial orientation, the limits of physical strength and the mind’s outer edges of fear. In this class, you will learn to approach inversions with sound anatomical principles, an open mind, excitement and fun. You will experience first hand that it takes much more than brute strength to steady yourself on your hands. You will see how easy it really is to let yourself slide into postures, positions and inversions that you think are impossible with just the slightest change of perspective. Everything from shoulderstand to downward dog to handstand is part of the game.

2:00-3:30 PM: Yoga Practice & Talk Session

  • Location: Aquatic & Fitness Center (AFC) in the Main Gym
  • Tickets: FREE students | $15 non-students
NOTE: non-student tickets for both events are discounted at $50/combined

This event will feature both a yoga practice session and a talk exploring Kino’s new book, The Yogi Assignment: A 30-Day Program for Bringing Yoga Practice and Wisdom to Your Everyday Life.   Kino MacGregor is an international yoga teacher, author of three books, producer of six Ashtanga Yoga DVDs, writer, blogger, world traveler, and is the co-founder of Miami Life Center, Yoga Challenge, and OmStars Clothing. Talk will conclude with a book signing.
