Rotunda Contemplative Practice Series F2018 - Japanese Tea Ceremony: Being Present in the Moment

When

Sun., Nov 11 2018 - 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM

The Japanese Tea Ceremony is more than making and drinking tea — it is a contemplative artform. Join us in experiencing the meditative nature of the ceremony as we explore the ancient technique with all of our senses and awaken to the present moment.

Tea Ceremony full participation is limited to 15 participants on a first come first served basis. Please arrive early if you are interested in directly experiencing how to prepare and drink traditional Japanese tea and sweets. Others who arrive later are welcome to participate as observers. Please wear comfortable clothes as participation may involve gentle movements and sitting or kneeling on the floor to prepare tea.

Instructor: Hiromi Johnson

Hiromi Johnson was awarded the Mildred W. Spicer Award on 11/05/18 which recognizes people around Charlottesville who help create artistic opportunities for those with disabilities. See the story: NBC 29 Story
